New in my Etsy Shop- Fair Isle Brooches

I'm just stopping by today to tell you that I've just added some new pieces to my Etsy Shop! I had a great photo shoot last week with the always fab Hammonds Photography Studio and I'm gradually adding the pieces to my shop. I hope you like them!

The first pieces I have added are these three Fair Isle triangle brooches. They are hand knitted in Shetland wool to my own Fair Isle design and they are finished with a pom pom. I love making these, they are so much fun to create! I have made Fair Isle brooches and necklaces in a lot of different colour combinations but these are my favourite so far. I'd love to know what you think!

News and New Products

Hello to you and Happy New Year! I hope 2018 has got off to a good start for you. Here's how 2018 is developing here so far...

This year I'm really determined to grow my small business and that's why I've chosen "Grow" to be my word for 2018. This is not something I've done before but I was inspired by this Makelight Advent video to choose a word to focus on in 2018. I've actually knitted the word "Grow" and I'm going to frame it to go on my desk and serve as a visual reminder of what I'm striving towards achieving in 2018.

Mr Writer and I are working on organising the craft/work room in the new house- we have shelving units now and I have a desk. We're getting there gradually! I'm looking forward to having a dedicated space to work in again and also to being organised and knowing where everything is!

This is a "before" picture- looking forward to sharing the "after" photo!

I looked at a lot of desks but chose this one in the end as it has a lot of storage space. It's called the South Shore Artwork Craft Table with Storage on Amazon if you are looking for a desk

While I am extra super determined to work hard and really push myself this year, I have also decided that 2018 should be the year when I take more time to rest and do more non-work activities that I enjoy. I feel guilty to admit if I am spending time not working, such as when I posted this photo on Instagram yesterday of me with my feet up enjoying a coffee and sewing up a little jacket I've made for my niece. Life is to be enjoyed and I realised that it's silly for me to feel guilty for doing something I enjoy and taking life a bit slower. So less feeling guilty this year!

I've been making some new Fair Isle jewellery pieces and I had them photographed by the brilliant as always Hammonds Photography Studio. I'm gradually adding them to my Etsy Shop so they should all be up in the next week!

I'm looking forward to sharing more plans and new work as the year unfolds. What have you been up to in January?

New Button Brooches

Just stopping by to share a little shop update with you all today! I'm working really hard to add new pieces to my Etsy Shop at the moment and I'm photographing all the pieces myself, so it's a learning curve, but one that I am enjoying very much. This week I added three new button brooches- two knitted ones in a lilac and a pale blue and a lovely mustard toned Harris Tweed one. They are all handmade by myself and embellished with tiny pieces of upcycled fabric, stitched onto the brooches in gold thread.

The button brooches look equally lovely worn on their own or as a group to brighten up your favourite cardi or jacket.

Thank you for letting me share these with you today, I hope you have had a fab week!

New in my Etsy Shop!

If you follow me on social media, this week you will have seen a sneak peek of some new pieces I've been working on lately. I'm delighted to reveal them now- I've just added them to my Etsy Shop!

Meet my new Fair Isle necklaces with pom poms!

I'd been wanting to add to my Fair Isle jewellery range and create some really bright, fun pieces. Adding a pom pom in a contrasting colour to the bottom of each necklace has added a happy quirkiness to the range.

I certainly had fun making them and I hope people have fun wearing them too. The world needs more pom poms!

There are currently three colour ways to choose from, all hand knitted to my own patterns using Shetland Wool. Which one is your favourite?

I will be adding more colours and I am always happy to make custom orders if you would like one in a particular colour combo, just let me know!

Thank you for letting me share these with you today. I hope you have a lovely week.

New Harris Tweed Necklaces!

Over in my Etsy Shop I've just added some new additions! During the cold snap I've been really looking forward to Spring and with that in mind, my latest Harris Tweed mini embroidery hoop necklaces are inspired by Spring gardens. The bright blue, pale pink and lilac Harris Tweed necklaces are embellished with tiny pieces of colourful upcycled fabric, hand stitched onto the tweed in gold thread- they remind me of gardens in bloom! The mini embroidery hoops are strung on a 24" silver plated chain and hang at approx. 12".

As with all of the pieces in my Etsy Shop, these necklaces arrived package in a beautifully hand decorated gift box, so they are ideal for gifting or as a lovely treat for yourself.

If you'd like to have a closer look, take a peek into my Etsy Shop here. Have a fab day all!

New Harris Tweed Necklaces Sneak Peek

Happy Wednesday to you all! Here's a little sneak peek at some new Harris Tweed mini embroidery hoop necklaces that I'll be adding to my Etsy Shop in the next couple of weeks. The green and the pink tweed are new colours that I'm pretty excited about. I've been given lots of new offcuts of fabric to use for the embellishments too so I've enjoyed sewing with them. I'll let you know and I'll share more pics once I've got them up in the shop!

Thanks as always to the fab Hammonds Photography Studio for the great photos!

Harris Tweed Button Bookmarks

Happy Sunday to you all! Today I'll be working on an upcoming How To that I'll share with you soon, plus spending some time with Mr Writer and family. I've also started planning to make my first quilt... oops. I have projects to finish but I can't help but think about the next one!

I just wanted to stop by today to tell you that I have a couple of colours of my Harris Tweed button bookmarks/giant paper clips available in my Etsy Shop, but I make them in many more colours. I also make Tartan and knitted ones too. They are all embellished with upcycled fabric pieces and the Tartan ones are embellished with upcycled leather pieces. As always, if you would like something in a certain style or colour that you can't see in my Etsy Shop, or if you have any other specific requirements, drop me a message here, or email me at enquiries@louisedawsondesign.com and I'd be very happy to help!

Have a lovely day, whatever you're up to and I'll catch up with you again later in the week

New Harris Tweed Rings!

If you've been reading this blog for a while you will know that I absolutely love Harris Tweed! I first started making Harris Tweed jewellery as a way to be able to wear this beautiful, traditional wool fabric everyday, not just as a jacket on a chilly day. My range of Harris Tweed accessories is growing and now includes brooches, necklaces, bookmarks and rings. I've just added some new Harris Tweed Button Rings to my Etsy Shop, including one in a lovely new dark pink colour. They are embellished with tiny pieces of upcycled fabric, stitched on in gold thread. Have a browse at them in my shop here- which one is your favourite?

Harris Tweed Mini Embroidery Hoop Necklaces

I'm all about necklaces at the moment, they are my current favourite accessory of choice and I've been making lots of them too! I've been working hard behind the scenes to expand my product range and I'm excited to share the first part of my new collection with you today- introducing my Harris Tweed Mini Embroidery Hoop Necklaces with Upcycled Fabrics! The hoops measure 4cm and are strung on a 24", silver plated necklace chain (hoop hangs at 12"). They are embellished with tiny pieces of pretty upcycled fabrics, stitched onto the tweed using gold thread.

I've made myself a mustard one which I'm loving wearing (it's one of my favourite colours at the moment) - it's received lots of compliments so far! There are 5 colour ways now available in my Etsy Shop- which one is your favourite?  Thank you to the fab Hammonds Photography Studio for taking the lovely photos

I have more new pieces to share, watch this space!
