Harris Tweed Button Bookmarks

Happy Sunday to you all! Today I'll be working on an upcoming How To that I'll share with you soon, plus spending some time with Mr Writer and family. I've also started planning to make my first quilt... oops. I have projects to finish but I can't help but think about the next one!

I just wanted to stop by today to tell you that I have a couple of colours of my Harris Tweed button bookmarks/giant paper clips available in my Etsy Shop, but I make them in many more colours. I also make Tartan and knitted ones too. They are all embellished with upcycled fabric pieces and the Tartan ones are embellished with upcycled leather pieces. As always, if you would like something in a certain style or colour that you can't see in my Etsy Shop, or if you have any other specific requirements, drop me a message here, or email me at enquiries@louisedawsondesign.com and I'd be very happy to help!

Have a lovely day, whatever you're up to and I'll catch up with you again later in the week

Bookmark Display Cards

Today I've been making bookmark display cards using pages from magazines (I can't bring myself to cut up a book!)

A couple of times lately  my bookmarks have been mistaken for unusually shaped brooches, so hopefully this will solve that problem! I'm going to try out several ways of displaying them to see what works best.

In case you're curious, I'm currently reading the new Bridget Jones book "Mad About the Boy." I heart Bridget Jones!

Christmas Fair festivities!

I can't believe there are only two weeks left until Christmas day! I've been getting in the spirit and had a very festive weekend! On Saturday I had a thoroughly enjoyable (and unseasonably warm) day taking part in The Minories Christmas Art and Design Fair in Colchester. I enjoyed chatting to lots of new people as well as catching up with some familiar faces! There was such a lovely atmosphere and The Minories is a beautiful building for events like this- my table was in the Ballroom.

My Bookmarks

My neighbor at The Minories fair was the lovely Lindsay from Slumbermonkey Designs. check out her lovely handbag mirrors- they feature Lindsay's own designs. I also loved her shrink plastic jewellery created using her own illustrations- check out her Etsy Shop here

Clare Sams quirky knitted pieces are right up my street! What a talented lady, check out her website to see more of her brilliantly subversive knitted pieces

Mary Lu had taken over the Garden Room with their vintage clothing and homewares- all very tempting! Both Mary and Lucy taught me at college so it was nice to chat to them

On Sunday, I wrapped up warm and traveled to London to share a stand at Spitalfields with my frien Louisa Dash who makes beautiful accessories.

A Christmassy Spitalfields Market

Louisa makes these beautiful statement leather flower brooches, i-pad cases,  key chains and bags. We had a lovely busy day and we did treat ourselves to some nice food from the market- it's very hard to resist!

Thank you if you came to say hi over the weekend. I'm happy to think that Louise Dawson Design pieces will be wrapped under some Christmas Trees :o) Merry Christmas to you all!

New additions!

Some new additions- cover button Bookmarks! These are a quirky take on the traditional Bookmark, handmade using small cover buttons with a giant paper clip base. They are made using Harris Tweed off-cuts and knitted pieces, embellished with recycled fabric "sequins."

These will be available to buy at Open Studios and I will be adding them to my Etsy shop soon!

I'm working outside in the lovely sun today and I'm using some new findings. I'm working on new style rings and also bookmarks, pendant necklaces and bangles. These will all be available to buy during the Open Studios weekend, plus many more unique handmade pieces. Look forward to meeting you there!
