On Instagram in March

I can't quite believe that here we are in April! This year is flying by so fast! Here's a look at what I got up to in March through my Instagram photos...

Baking...Mr Writer had been asking me to make this Jaffa Cake from Jamie Oliver's Comfort Food book for ages, so when I had a week off from the day job at the beginning of the month I made it! I felt like I was in a Bake Off challenge because you had to grill layers of cake mixture!

Getting out for local walks by the water

Lunch by the Loch

My Mum works with children and she asked me to knit a hat for this rubber duck to illustrate a story. I wanted to keep him as a mascot!

Sharing some of my jewellery work

Experiments with patching fabric and soluble film

A sneak peek at some crochet I'm working on for my Small Project Challenge

Mr Writer and I got away for a short break in Sherwood Forest, Nottingham. This was the view from our wooden cabin in the forest, nothing but trees, birds and squirrels!

Visiting The Bead Shop Nottingham, which was bead heaven! I'e been ordering Swarovski Crystals from them online for years now so it was lovely to get to visit the bricks and mortar shop!

I just had to snap a photo of this lovely doggy in the flower shop!

On Instagram in September

It seems impossible that here we are in October already! This year is really flying past. Here's what I got up to in September on Instagram...

Introducing brother and sister cats, Daisy and Nelson! They've been making the most of the last of the sunny weather, sun bathing and dozing in the garden- they are always happy to pose for an Instagram photo! Love them!

I've enjoyed baking some lovely things this month, including a Bake Off inspired custard tart and a steak, Guinness and cheese pie from Jamie Oliver's Jamie At Home book- do love a good pie!

Mr Writer had some good news (yay!) and to celebrate we had dinner and cocktails at our local Mexican restaurant. They make a lovely Mojito and Long Island Iced Tea!

Craft wise I've been working on Fair Isle jewellery, printing for a forthcoming How To and making a giant dice for Mr Writer's Dungeons and Dragons games (I'll share it when it's finished!)

We were lucky to enjoy some beautiful weather in Essex towards the end of the month, so Mr Writer and I got out and about locally down by the water. There's always lots of activity on the river on a sunny day

This is my next read that I bought this week, so I'm looking forward to getting stuck in and hopefully learning lots

So that was September, here's to a great October!

Cake Therapy!

Aside from my craft work cooking is my therapy. Just wanted to share a few pics...

Pineapple and Lime cake from Gizzi Erskine's book Kitchen Magic

Fresh cream and Strawberry Victoria Sponge from Jamie Oliver's Cook With Jamie Book. My favourite chef, love Jamie!

Banana and homemade toffee sauce cake from The Great British Bake Off.
Lovely cake but a mistake to make it on a hot day, the sauce wouldn't set!
