Sunny September Afternoon At Ulting Wick

Although there have been a couple of chillier, rainy days, on the whole September has still felt very summery so far- I'm making the most of it before Autumn sets in! Last Sunday was gorgeously sunny and warm and I spent the afternoon with Mr Writer and his family at Ulting Wick, a beautiful house with spectacular gardens, tucked away in the Essex countryside. You can find out more about Ulting Wick in this previous post, when we visited the gardens to see the tulips in bloom.

It really is a quintessentially English, picture postcard garden. Just stunning

My Mother and Father in Law are great gardeners so it was interesting to hear their knowledge of the different plants in the gardens

It was so bright in the sunshine that it was difficult to take clear photos in places but I hope you get the gist of the beautiful place!

Seaside Photo Walk

Just like the song, I do like to be beside the seaside! As it was my weekend off from the day job, last Saturday Mr Writer and I took a trip to the lovely seaside town of Frinton in Essex, which is a special place to us for a number of reasons. I really wanted to share some photos from our walk- we had a lovely lunch (and cake!) and walked from Frinton to Walton and back, taking in the sea air and admiring the colourful beach huts that stretch along the front. As you can see from the photos, throughout the walk it alternated between spells of bright Spring sunshine and big, grey moody skies, but we were lucky to avoid any showers. A lovely day off spent together!

Hyde Hall Photo Walk

Mr Writer and I recently had a week off and took advantage of the lovely Spring weather to get out and about exploring the local Essex countryside. The Spring flowers are in full bloom and there is blossom in the trees- everywhere is looking so pretty at the moment! We were given the very thoughtful gift of an RHS membership and our nearest RHS garden is Hyde Hall in Essex. It's interesting to visit the gardens throughout the seasons to see how they change. Walks By The River

If you follow me on Instagram you will know that Mr Writer has gone away to work in Korea for a month, so my mission until he gets back is to keep as busy as possible to make the time go quickly! I'm going to try to get out for more walks and at the weekend when he first left I walked down to the river near to where I live (in a little corner of Essex) to take some photos. Weekend Walks

Things are very busy here and I 'm working toward something I can tell you about soon, but in the mean time I've been getting out for weekend walks as it really clears my mind to get out in the fresh air.I don't know about you, but I find it helps to have a change of scenery for a little while when life gets hectic. I live in a little town in Essex near my local park which has the river flowing beside it- here are some photos from my late afternoon walk along the river last weekend where I snapped some of my favourite views...
