Sunny September Afternoon At Ulting Wick

Although there have been a couple of chillier, rainy days, on the whole September has still felt very summery so far- I'm making the most of it before Autumn sets in! Last Sunday was gorgeously sunny and warm and I spent the afternoon with Mr Writer and his family at Ulting Wick, a beautiful house with spectacular gardens, tucked away in the Essex countryside. You can find out more about Ulting Wick in this previous post, when we visited the gardens to see the tulips in bloom.

Here are some photos from our lovely September afternoon...

It really is a quintessentially English, picture postcard garden. Just stunning

My Mother and Father in Law are great gardeners so it was interesting to hear their knowledge of the different plants in the gardens

It was so bright in the sunshine that it was difficult to take clear photos in places but I hope you get the gist of the beautiful place!

You can see just how bright a day it was!

This wasn't intentional but I love this hazy, summery effect!

The colour of that sky!

If you've been on any trips recently I'd love to see your photos! Do you have any recommendations of great places to visit?

Mad Hatter's Tea and Craft Party On 6th October

Did you know that it's National Mad Hatter's Day on 6th October? If you fancy a lovely evening of tea, cake and Alice In Wonderland inspired jewellery making, why not book a ticket and come along to the Cardamon Tea Lounge in Colchester for the evening. There will even be goody bags to take home! I'm delighted to have been asked to get involved and I have designed the jewellery piece that participants will be making (we're keeping it under wraps at the moment but all will be revealed!). I had great fun immersing myself in all things Alice In Wonderland while coming up with ideas!

It's great to be supporting such a great cause- all money raised will go to the charity child.org. If you'd like to book a ticket, you can buy them from the Cardamon Tea Lounge- contact them on 01206 504180

So looking forward to it, hope to see you there!

How fab is this poster by the way?! It was designed by the very talented printwear designer Melissa Faux- find her @melissafaux on Facebook

New Harris Tweed Necklaces Sneak Peek

Happy Wednesday to you all! Here's a little sneak peek at some new Harris Tweed mini embroidery hoop necklaces that I'll be adding to my Etsy Shop in the next couple of weeks. The green and the pink tweed are new colours that I'm pretty excited about. I've been given lots of new offcuts of fabric to use for the embellishments too so I've enjoyed sewing with them. I'll let you know and I'll share more pics once I've got them up in the shop!

Thanks as always to the fab Hammonds Photography Studio for the great photos!

On Instagram In August

Here in the UK the Summer weather is notorious for being hit and miss, but this year we've been so lucky to have been blessed with the most beautiful weather in August. As much as I love getting wrapped up in big snugly woolly jumpers (I am a knitter after all!) I'm a Summer girl at heart and I've absolutely loved this Summer! I hope you've had a lovely August and have enjoyed some sunshine where you are. Here's a look back at what I got up to in August through my Instagram photos...

The gardens have been blooming in the sunshine!

It gets really busy both on and around the river in the Summer months

I feel very lucky to live here. People come to visit the park from all over the county and beyond

Gooseberries from my Gran's garden! These became a crumble, nom nom nom

Sharing my seasonal recipe for blackberry and marshmallow cake

I baked a Bake Off inspired lemon drizzle cake. What can I say, I just love a cup of tea and a slice of cake!

Lovely Nelson. He's always so chilled out and he's just so cute, love him

I've been looking ahead to Winter and making new jewellery pieces for upcoming craft fairs in the Winter months

I've been enjoying making my Harris Tweed mini embroidery hoop necklaces and I'm delighted that they have received a good response

Taking part in a local craft fair

I shared my How To for these spray painted tile coasters on the blog in August

Sunny day selfie wearing one of my handmade Swarovski crystal and upcycled bead necklace. I wear this necklace all the time, it goes with everything. I have a similar one available in my Etsy Shop

I'm designing and making some of my Fair Isle triangle necklaces in new colours. Let me know if there are any particular colours/colour combos you would like to see!

One of my Harris Tweed rings all ready to send off to its new home!

The lovely Sarah shared this pic of her wearing her new pink Harris Tweed ring, thanks Sarah! Love your nails too

I don't think I will ever get tired of mustard Harris Tweed!
